        Inhumane treatment is what goes on in prisons because the stereotype is oh they are scumbags... fact is 90 percent of americas commit a felony everyday, the justice system cant handle all of them so some never get arrested while others are forced to plea to lesser crimes..corrupt

        This is the wrong question. The true question is, "Are we a people who would subject humans to inhumane conditions?" Solitary confinement simply refers to whether they are housed with others or not. Not whether we throw them in a pit and leave them there.

        In my estimation, prisoners generally should be put to work in order to achieve deterrence objectives. The recidivist rates unequivocally prove that the system "as is" is failing in said regard. Prisoners playing cards, making gang buddies and hoops is not cutting it.
