We asked college students how they handle consent. They talked about the ways in which sex is negotiated — and just how wrapped up in gender those notions can be.https://nyti.ms/2L0fj8G

Not being convinced seems more like a personal responsibility... If you’re convinced into giving consent, it falls on you.

Should be common sense, amazing how many ppl confuse irresponsibility with sexual assault

Nxt pls do a story on the hundreds of rapes, per yr, on campus that r reported to police...but the DAs never prosecute

Yes please do @nytimes Obviously its not the DA's or the polices fault its hard to prove rape based on hearsay alone. Still it would be interesting to know the numbers and if the accused get placed on a register and what happens to both parties if claims are found to be false

How do you "negotiate sex" in a really romantic, feeling-driven way? Pull out a form, let himher read and sign it?

How are the standards transphobic? I mean, I'm trans, but I don't have to deal so much with consent, being with my wife for 18 years or so. Serious question.

do gay people even have to worry about consent? is there really rape among genuinely gay people, or do you just want to pretend there is?

Of course, there is rape with same-sex partnerships. Why would you think otherwise? There are rape, violence, domestic violence and everything that happens to straight people.

lol, I’m sure. what reason do you people have to reject a fellow homosexual?

It's not about rejection. Fights happen. Predators happen. Chasers Happen. Gay people are killed because a straight person decided to experiment and killed them so their precious secret doesn't get out. People are raped the same way straight people are. Some people get off on it.
