Has anyone ever thought that maybe there is a higher arrest rate of non-white citizens simply because they posses more weed or because they smoke and sell it in exposed public areas?

Do you know how easy these statistics are to research? It’s 2018—Google is free. There are 100s of studies proving black/white marijuana usage is virtually equal, w/ white usage often eclipsing black. Or you could’ve just read this whole article which references the SAMHSA data.

So true. So much easier to stay out of these threads if you don’t know or care—just read and learn. It’s institutionalized racism. We’re swimming in it. Last stats I had, using cannabis at pretty much equal rates, blacks 4x more likely to be arrested. Damn shame.

Identifying the “racism-criminal bias” problem is the first step. Now we need innovative ideas to change people’s thought processes. 50% of the problem is insidious unconscious bias thats super difficult BUT it can be reprogrammed over time— but we need totally fresh thinking.

According to our study @TAG_NYC 400+ people will sleep incarcerated tonight for possession of cannabis. Over 400,for what is perfectly legal in almost a dozen states. That is a crime The fact that the majority are African American or Latino is a scandal and blatant racism

When marijuana was declared illegal in the US, largely in the1920's, don't you think it was because of the many black musicians smoking it? Long history of how to lock them up.

This is a good lesson for young black men. Don't smoke marijuana while driving your car. Its pungent odor is a dead giveaway to any police officer who stops you!
