The unwinding of the team has effectively killed investigations into possibly fraudulent activities at several large for-profit colleges where top hires of Betsy DeVos, the education secretary, had previously workedhttps://nyti.ms/2rEUirb

The for-profit sector (charter schools, colleges, and loan processors) will wither and die if enough states enact free college for all and begin to move toward full funding for public education. Does anyone wonder why there is such resistance to these movements?

It is expensive, and most states outside the few net tax doners, can't afford it at the current prices... At historic ones of decades past, before artificially bloating prices with cheap non dischargeable loans, this would have been tenable...

If we compelled the fat cats to pay their fair share of taxes (Amazon, for example, pays 0 tax but gets multi-million tax refund) and turned off corporate welfare (Exxon doesn't need tax break), we'd have more than enough for these worthy programs.

Literally the most corrupt administration ever. It's not even close and they're blatant about it as well. I guess that's what happens when you have the complicit @HouseGOP neglecting to hold this administration accountable in anyway whatsoever.

Corruption in politics has become the norm. Corruption at the dept of education will damage our nation for years to come.

I think you may well have it right to begin with but Pruitt, Price, Perry (the boy genius), Mnuchin and Carson are surely just as bad? They are all utterly corrupt & utterly incompetent.

I have no clue why this woman has this position. 'Wealthy donor' seems the only chip she can toss on the table. It's an inept administration that honors money over qualifications.
