Altogether how many men vs women. Women have to make the films in order to be nominated. But if there is only one woman for every ten men, you’re asking a lot.

This is an important point and it’s frustrating how often it’s lost. Focusing on the lack of representation in award ceremony’s misses the greater issue, like treating the symptoms instead of the cause. It’s a systemic issue on down the line, beyond just the directors chair.

I don't know how many films, overall, are directed by women. How many, vs, how many directed by men?

How many female directors per male directors were there during that time? How many are there now? Maybe they should just give the award to women BECAUSE they are women?

The only fair solution is that all future awards of the Palme d’Or must go to films directed by women until the inequity has been erased. It doesn’t matter if the award doesn’t go to the best film. This oppression of women has to stop. Of course, I don’t believe any of this bilge

It’s the 2nd oldst film festival in the world and most prestigious, it’s worth surpassing everything else within the artform, I guarantee you there is not a woman director in contention for a place there that would advocate anything close to what you’re proposing. Get a grip ffs
