College admissions offices could do quite a lot to curb this trend, by not having such strong athletic preferences. Just saying.

Did you even read the article, or do you cry #FakeNews every time you see an article headline you don’t like/agree with, without even reading? My guess is the latter, considering the article covers more than just what the headline states. #yousoundliketrump

Need to complement Madison Ave on this one -whom ever figured out there was a fashion statement to be made in Children's swim suits deserves a raise. Elitism and fashion do not mix, what does mix is dollars and fashion.

These are racing swimsuits used to reduce drag, increase efficiency, and decrease your racing times. Fashion is definitely not a priority or major consideration.

There is no substitute for digging down in your inner soul and pushing yourself through the 8th 200 of a set. THAT is what builds champions, not the suit.pic.twitter.com/VzrYG7WEDs

Yes, racing suits have been around for the last couple decades, however, the an Aquablade was only $80 in the 90’s and you only saw older kids wearing them at big consequential meets. To see age groupers wearing $300+ suits at every meet is mind blowing.

This is a competition. Obviously people will get the best equipment they can. Same with basketball, biking, running, online gaming... I'm not saying that the improvement is significant at the competitors' level, though.

Same exact thing happened in youth hockey in early 2000s with new stick tech that pushed prices into triple digits for one stick.

In the rust belt they had to close our swimming pool because of finances but the bright side is they put up a little area for our local kids to walk through sprinklers. Maybe if Trump serves 8 years we'll build another pool.

The most important thing a child today should know is that when I was just starting in school afterlife technology wasn't a thing yet, but with my help, it soon was. Remind me to write a song about neural ablation.
