In @NYTOpinion John Sipher writes, "Gina Haspel’s role in the post-Sept. 11 counterterrorism fight was both messy and complex. It included terrible mistakes and great successes."https://nyti.ms/2KUX3gJ

Dick Cheney should take responsibility for the horrible torture program used by the US during the Bush/Cheney administration. Cheney's recent statements to keep these inhumane programs in the wings reveals he played a huge role in their creation. The programs violate human rights

Torture isn’t a mistake, it’s a war crime. It’s not bad judgement, it’s intentionally harming another human being, knowing the results by study are questionable.

Did someone change the definition of "integrity" while I was napping? Because when I think of "being honest and having strong moral principles" well, #GinaHaspel does not come to mind. #torture

This is the most qualified individual that DT has nominated for any job. She didn't make the laws. Just a soldier that executed. Blame the law makers.

Torture is forbidden under US and international law. And ”just followed orders” is not a valid defence, just ask the ppl on trial at Nurnberg -45.

Apparently I stirred up a hornets nest. Easy to sit behind the comfort of social media and judge. I'm not going to judge her.

Well, maybe you should? When ppl break the law we judge them, that’s how it works. Then there are sometimes bad laws you can argue with. However, imo, in the case of torture it’s crystal clear - it doesn’t belong in a civ. society (besides being an unreliable source of intel)

She’s someone who oversaw torcher during the Bush years. Bad judgement, that we cannot afford doing again. I erg the Senate to reject the #Haspel nomination.

That’s a great euphemism for lying. Must’ve been pretty “messy” when Bush asked only for evidence of WMDs in Iraq and the CIA happily complied. I’m sure she’ll do great work making the case for war with Iran too, given her years of experience.pic.twitter.com/o0VozWV2a8

There were several plots that were stopped. How would you feel if some went through and killed or maimed a loved one. After 911 America had to wake up
