An estimated 6 million people nationwide are barred from voting because of felony convictions. A group of formerly incarcerated people is working to change that.https://nyti.ms/2rBEHZw

So it's another Democrat voting drive.

Aren't the 23 (and counting) people indicted in the Mueller investigation Republicans? Surely they'll want to vote when they get out of prison

This may come as a shock to you but indictments are not equivalent to convictions and most are Russians who can't vote anyway (except CA of course). Anyway, you'd be hard pressed to find Republicans for this nonsense. It's another Dummycrat missile aimed at expanding their base.

You left out two key words. Here, I'll fix it for you... "Republicans are against *serious criminals* voting.... Yeah thats not actually a shock at all." Better now. You're good to go! Hope this helps. :p

Lol! Why? At what point do they stop being serious criminals? We're talking about people who are not in prison any more. Are you saying that punishment should never end?

It's up to the states - some allow felons to vote and others do not. Vermont and Maine (no surprise there!) even allow current prisoners to vote. And California does too for county jail prisoners. So these laws vary a great from state to state.

Right. And the article states that the people working on initiatives work with any candidate, regardless of their party, as long as they endorsed policies that make it less difficult for returning citizens to live their lives. Hard to see how this is just for democrats.

This is misleading, states do but the process is needlessly complicated that few in this situation can even navigate.

That itself is the problem some states handle more efficiently my home state SC and especially FL where I am now hold that right after release from prison.

Since it’s a felony a federal more streamline process makes more sense rather then having some states immediately returning rights and others requiring a literal petition. States rights are great when you don’t live in a crappy irrational one.
