Yes it's worse. Advertising, other people breathing and eating, the view is crap, it's scheduled, I can't pause to pee, trailers for shit films I don't want to see, and I have to wear clothes. NETFLIX FTW.

Our current generation is losing the sensation of being in a close-knit community that experiences something new and exciting together in real time. Does it matter? Does it matter if you drink sand vs. water?

El teatro o cine lo que venden son experiencias, algo que no tendrás en casa.

I'd actually end up paying for more new movies if I could get them at home as soon as they come out.

nah, not with brand new films...as far as i know. hell, i'd pay more than the cost of a regular movie ticket price to watch a brand new film at home.

I remember watching one of the newer James Bond (Quantum of Solace, maybe) in my hotel room, while it was still in theatre. I was $20 or something. But I haven’t seen that offered by regular cable companies.

coulda been. i think the film studios don't do this because people might record and distribute new films. also, a dozen people could watch the same film for the price of one rental.

They need to come up with different options. Not everyone wants to sit in a cramped movie theatre.

Some films are an amazing big screen experience (Dunkirk, Gravity); some you can probably wait. But going to the theater is also a social ritual, often a date night, having dinner with friends that have similar interests, even getting overpriced popcorn. And previews. 😃

In the theater...people kicking your chair! kids screaming, people taking, people texting... unlike at home, quiet, relaxed and on my comfy sofa!

Considering the way those bitches wouldn’t shut up during the entirety of Phantom Thread, just because it was a $4 screening, I’d say YES
