California within America: 6% of carbon emissions, 12% of the population, 24% of the wealth — all among tight regulations. In LA county, over 60% of small businesses are created by immigrants. California disproves the Republican economic narrative (see: Kentucky)

It's absolutely no coincidence that the poorest states/regions per capita are the most republican and the wealthiest ones are the most liberal

New Mexico is not extremely Republican. NM has only voted for a Republican in the presidential election once since 1992.

Their governor is a two term republican, and most of the local level government is very Republican. I lived in New Mexico for most of my life. GOP doesn’t push there in general elections because it’s worth so little on the electoral map

I lived there, watched the Dems win everything in 2008. That is in no way politically equivalent to the Mississippi Delta.

You're right I stand corrected. After doing some research, I thought their state government was more right than its been historically. Doesn't diminish the trend that all the other states are super republican.

California just became the 5th best economy in the country. Surpassing Great Britain. Whatever they are doing appears to be working.

That is not good. While I wouldn't plan on voting for them, we need real actual civil discourse from both sides acting in actual good faith.

We don't. The Democratic party of California has turned the state around. We need to just keep electing people who aren't crooks and believe in science.

The civil discourse should take place between establishment dems (centrist, corporate etc) and progressive dems (justice dems etc, who want money out of politics.) no need to include reps into this to drag it to right, at least here in CA.

It’s a state with the 5th largest economy in the WORLD. They have a good thing going, even battling the effects of climate change with fires. Why would they let Republicans ruin that?
