Here's a fact sheet... Rapes in USofA are 15 times more per million than in India & violent crimes 10 times more per million We in India report our crimes as we want it to end & be curtailed Maybe #metoo campaign has been forgotten too soon? Look within we care for our own!

Dude, the point is that in the developed countries there is higher rate of reporting of sexual abuses than in the developing ones. Also, the definition of "sexual abuse" is much more wide in the developed ones.

Dude, a large percent do not report abuse even in the "developed" world... If Weinsteins case is to give u any hint... So even if we multiply this factor with 15 in India "15"... still all "developed" nations have more rapes per million... Do not live in denial of your own dirt!

In most of the developed countries, as Italy is, it's extimated that 90% of abuses are covered or not reported. So, in case of India or other countries around it's probably near to the totality. Denying this is just not having clear what the problematic of sexual abuses is.

And in general, in all the developed countries the percentage of reporting is higher, but non only for sexual abuses. Also the way in India the low-skilled workers are treated, in example, would be impossible in EU or US (I've been 4work almost 4yrs in India, not just heard)

Income disparity does exist, talking about treatment of workers, there are labour laws which are slowly but surely finding a sound footing. The percentage of reporting in developed countries is higher but 15 times higher? This problem is global needs drastic measures to address.

Not talking about money, but about dignity. And of course it's a global problem, but i.e. things that in Latin America are considered as normal behaviouring, in US and EU are already considered in the range of sexual abuses. And still, it's extimated that only 8-10% is reported!

Perhaps the wealthy celebrities complaining about gun control that are protected by guns and complaining about a wall that are protected in their homes by walls; Should use their celebrity for this. Raping and killing children are not acceptable.

although I am so curious about the culture and the food, I as a female will never travel to India. Even my Indian grad school friend told me not to go for this very same reason.

Despite many protestations to the contrary, in India women are beaten, raped and killed with little or no consequences. Horrendous crimes against women are deftly handled by Indian government and the rulling party media machine. And officially India is a democracy.
