The mystery remains: Why wage increases haven't been more robust, when the market continues to edge toward full employment.https://nyti.ms/2FNEXJR

When the power of Big Business grew & the influence of unions decreased, the wage paradox suddenly became a thing. I know it's heresy to bring that up these days because we've been brainwashed to believe unions are bad for workers, but sometimes the truth is the simplest answer.

It doesn’t seem like a “mystery” to me. Those “jobs” republicans talk incessantly about are low wage jobs. And workers don’t have the same bargaining power they once had, sooooooo no wage growth. No need to get all mathematical about a simple greed problem.

This is an easy one. There is a difference between "unemployment" and "labor force participation rate", the former being an easily manipulated figure.

Because Republicans have spent the last 50 years convincing people that Unions are evil?

Data does not show the quality of life, work could be temp and or low pay especially for non-union skilled. So employment can shift downward any moment. The tariff conflict hypocrisy is some continues to shift work overseas along with knowledge ; it is real life experience here.

The almighty Federal Reserve Bank strictly focuses on blue collar wage increases but ignores executive suite salary inflation. Let the working class Jane & Joe get some traction and then comes the interest rate rises to slow down the economy. George Carlinhttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=H-PSCqhkWhg …

Maybe the numbers are off. Not sure if my suspicions are warranted but maybe some one is cooking the books for the upcoming mid-term elections. Painting a good but false picture of how great the economy is doing 🤨
