When Trump and Mike Pence are at the NRA convention, guns, knives and “weapons of any kind” are prohibited in the arenahttps://nyti.ms/2KAJjb5

This is not the NRA banning weapons at Trump/Pence events it's the Secret Service. The Secret Service has long established rules and become in charge of all security at events where POTUS/VP are in public & set the rules. Secret Service over ruled NRA, so stop the B.S. claims

It does say that clearly in the article. Not sure it changes the question of why guns would be banned in their presence given the rest of the narrative "good guys with guns", "guns don't kill, people do" etc. For me, it just underlines the complexity of the whole thing.

And with that there are still good guys with guns at the event they're called the Secret Service where is discretion for security even overrules state & local Government.

To protect P/VP we allow only the highest trained and vetted 'good guys' to have guns in their presence, which I agree with. For kids in school though, let's give guns to teachers. For the general public, no need for additional background checks or vetting. That doesn't square.

If @VP and @POTUS are so in love with guns they should let everyone carry their guns in the arena where they’ll be speaking.

Apparently this is a secret service rule. Perhaps the secret service should propose gun legislation for the US.

Isn’t this some kind of treason? Why would anyone want to endanger their president by putting them in a gun free zone? What, exactly, is supposed to happen in there, without good guys with guns? Everyone who comes into contact with the president, should be required to carry.

Hasn't the NRA been saying for years gun free zones only encourage gun violence? Shouldn't they be loudly warning the President to stay away from such an obvious soft target? My God won't someone please think of the gun fetishists?

The NRA should be OUTRAGED of the violation of their 2nd amendment rights NOT to be able to carry their guns into an NRA convention. What are they afraid of? Some mental patient taking an automatic weapon and gunning people down? The solution: Arm Trump and Pence! Done and done.
