America's 150 million gamers want to gather. They want to sit next to each other, elbow to elbow, controller to controller. They want the lighting to be cool, the snacks to be Hot Pockets, and they want a full bar because they aren't teenagers anymore.https://nyti.ms/2KuQykw

Ok that’s cool but like what if: - We also enjoy our personal space - We consume normal food too (sometimes even salad) - Many of us can appreciate esports without being stereotyped

The article has some good info in there, like the comment dispelling the notion that gamers just live in their parents' basements. Just wish the headline matched that tone!

This tweet just stereotypes and marginalizes every gamer out there. I expected better from a respected establishment like the @nytimes. 🤦‍♂️

To be fair to @NellieBowles, the writer rarely has much say over how the headlines for print and social media get written. I had to argue with a copy editor to get a decent one written for my story.

Sound like your copy editor is grossly out of touch and lacks professionalism. Would recommend to your publication to find a better one.

Unfortunately yeah. That's what I hate about the media in regards to headlines. It tends to misinform consumers and make them assume all the wrong things.

This conversation actually encouraged me to read the article, it was actually a pretty interesting read and I agree the headline vastly misrepresents the content of the actual article.
