One evening, the squad’s director told 9 of the 36 cheerleaders they had an evening assignment. Some of the male sponsors picked them to be personal escorts at a nightclub. “So get back to your room and get ready,” the director told them. Several of them began to cry.pic.twitter.com/Mr3qJGHIhN

Several women decided to leave the team the following season. What happened overseas, they said, made them feel worthless and unprotected. In a statement, the Redskins describe their cheerleader program as one with a “safe and constructive environment.”http://nyti.ms/2FBfpiU

Well then maybe ditch the female cheerleaders (it's so sexist at it's core) and have male cheerleaders or better yet, none at all.

Sure, but women whose appearance is relevant to their job go through this sort of thing all the time. It's not just a cheerleader thing.

I've been a Redskins fan for 38 years and enjoy the cheerleaders and interacting with them via social media. If any of the "semi-mandatory" exploitation type activities described in the article are true, I thinks its disgraceful and heads need to roll!

Right. Like that will happen. You know full well that nothing will be done. New cheerleaders will replace the ones who quit and the misogyny will continue on a pace.

It is the point. A culture that just accepts cheerleading, is just a small step away from this type of BS happening.

The same girls that are in that video, probably spend their Friday nights cheering at high school football games. The whole thing should just be stopped. Go for gymnastics or another real sport.
