One evening, the squad’s director told 9 of the 36 cheerleaders they had an evening assignment. Some of the male sponsors picked them to be personal escorts at a nightclub. “So get back to your room and get ready,” the director told them. Several of them began to cry.pic.twitter.com/Mr3qJGHIhN

Several women decided to leave the team the following season. What happened overseas, they said, made them feel worthless and unprotected. In a statement, the Redskins describe their cheerleader program as one with a “safe and constructive environment.”http://nyti.ms/2FBfpiU

Something terrible has already happened to you: you were told to go and take off your clothes before strange men when you did not wish to. That is assault by definition.

Also why does the Washington team still have the name REDSKINS? That is an insult to many people.

This is why there should be NO cheerleaders at these football games. These are so-called professional athletes and they should be able to perform their job that they are being paid millions to do. The cheerleaders are getting paid a pittance.

That is a highly charged claim. Where are the documented facts? If they want equality why didn't they stand up for themselves where they stood and accept the burden of standing up for themselves? Standing & defending your ground is part of what makes you an adult.

this is sexual assault (by a person in power). Yet it is the normal way cheerleaders are treated day in and day out. For some managers they should be in bikinis. Toxic culture. #timesup

This is the stupidest thing. I am a lawyer and I am asked to go to social events with business contacts all of the time. It’s a freaking perk of the job - getting to go to dinners or events. Not everything is bad in this world.

In 2018, #Trump, with his outsized ego, his anti-immigrant and anti-trade positions, coupled with barely disguised racism and deep-seated sexism and a willingness to lie whenever it suited him, was a near perfect fit.
