One evening, the squad’s director told 9 of the 36 cheerleaders they had an evening assignment. Some of the male sponsors picked them to be personal escorts at a nightclub. “So get back to your room and get ready,” the director told them. Several of them began to cry.pic.twitter.com/Mr3qJGHIhN

Several women decided to leave the team the following season. What happened overseas, they said, made them feel worthless and unprotected. In a statement, the Redskins describe their cheerleader program as one with a “safe and constructive environment.”http://nyti.ms/2FBfpiU

@TIMESUPNOW can we help the NFL cheerleaders? Between the control that the NFL exerts over their bodies, especially with social media, and this headline- TIMES UP on the NFL!

The age of the NFL cheerleader is over. Whether this alone kills it or not...the writing is on the wall. It's done.

The name of the team suggests no sensitive to any kind of equity, that they would do this is therefore not surprising

This is from the team that still uses a racial slang for its team name “Redskins”. There’s a lot of things morally wrong with this team. I feel really bad for those cheerleaders.

Wow this is very upsetting and just flat out not ok! #metoo & #timesup should apply to ALL! Former actress @TaroMeyer wrote this song inspired by the hard work of @MeTooMVMT & @TIMESUPNOW. Hopefully it can empower others! #allworksafework #WomensRightshttps://bit.ly/2qM4CxZ

A stupid question. They train for years, make extreme sacrifices and endure a gruelling selection process. This is their living. Is dismissing it so easy?

People endure all kinds of abuse when it comes to livelihood, especially when there are few alternative jobs. What does a cheerleader do after quitting for these reasons? You're blaming the victim instead of the predators and exploiters.

Obviously if they had just been Strong Women who were Tough, they could have swam home. Or flew. Strong Woman don't let themselves get harassed, they just grow wings and fly back home.
