In a taped interview at TMZ's headquarters, Kanye West said: “When you hear about slavery for 400 years — for 400 years? That sounds like a choice. You was there for 400 years and it’s all of y’all? We’re mentally in prison.”https://nyti.ms/2KsfARr

Kinda was a choice at the end of it, after the emancipation proclamation and slavery being outlawed, slaves had nowhere to go, couldnt buy land, so many of them opted into going back to their owners since they could get food. But, hes an idiot either way.

Thats fact. Many of the freed slaves had nowhere to go, instead of starving and having no roof many went back because they had nothing. Which just shows, “freed slaves” werent free at all. Still couldnt vote, and couldnt own land, and couldnt work.

Black people being subjected to slavery was not a choice. Kanye West skipping history classes and not bothering to pick up some 101-level history books - THAT was a choice.

Perhaps he should read “30 Years A Slave”. I couldn’t get through it without being overcome by both fierce anger and overwhelming sadness.
