On a cold March day, Nicanor Ochisor hanged himself in his garage. His family blames the hopelessness he felt over his fortunes as a taxi driver in New York.https://nyti.ms/2Kr0cEX

Blame the city for those high rates yellow cabs charge, or get you a new whip and be an Uber driver

I mean really. This nation incubates whiners. Capitalism needs to be understood contextually. Eventually it destroys the middle class. There are consequences.

NYC taxis cheated people viciously until they were forced to adopt flat rates and that didn't stop them. The drivers are rude, ignorant and not the least bit interested in customer service. They behaved as if they were the only game in town, like a mafia. Good riddance.

As for this particular driver, he should have simply declared bankrutpcy, wiped out his debts and started again in a new profession. Millions of Americans have done that. His profession became a dinosaur and he knew or should have known it was corrupt when he joined it.

The total lack of compassion that is systemic among the Trumpites is amazing! This man lost his will toi live because of crushing debt. He realized his investment in his medallion had devalued. People get depressed. Probably no medical. Let see what you do when the market crashespic.twitter.com/WJosi3oOZg

So sad. I wonder what all these people will do once the driverless vehicles are introduced. Automation will only get worse for many of the once very lucrative businesses...

Heartbreaking. Sometimes, when in a taxi, I ask drivers about business, now that they have more competition (and add green taxis to the mix.) Almost all the yellow taxi drivers mention huge debt bc of the medallion. I remember those days of the $1 million medallion.
