We drove around Detroit yesterday. It’s still crumbling. It is painful to see up close. I cannot imagine the effect it has on ones psyche growing up around the ruins of a once beautiful place to live.

My husband works downtown. I’m thrilled to see the positive changes happening there. It’s once you leave downtown that you see the burned out shells. Progress is being made, I see it. That doesn’t mean the entire city is involved in the renovation. It will take time.

If Chicago keeping to spoil criminals, Chicago will be next Detroit.

Yes . Chicago is going downhill fast . Once “good areas” are now riddled with crime. The judges let repeat offenders off so they can commit more crimes . The quality of life has declined.

White America is helping Chicago go downhill on purpose, the the marginalization of an entire race of people is going forward as planned, everything in America is about race and it's politics are race-based in effect to eliminate as many people as possible

Stop it with this garbage. You don't know Detroit. It's nauseating to have to read this. Let me know when you grocery shop there. Let me know when your kids go to school there. When you live IN Detroit.

Detroit is a warm welcoming place. You can get a free architectural tour of the Fisher building ( thanks @PureDetroit313 and especially Jacob) or walk down Corktown to watch this cyclopean station as noble as an Egyptian pyramid. 1/2

Or you can have a stroll along the Michigan river, or Greektown, or get a drink at the Old Miami. Of cours ypu see desolayed building, but no sadness: Detroit is blooming thanks to the energy of her Detroiters. Sgned: two French guys in love with the D.

If it didn’t have such cold winters, I’d move there in a minute. Detroit is now a haven for artists & progressives. There will be a few years of greatness, then the monied class will move in & ruin everything, a la Brooklyn.

Trump had nothing to do with this. It started before Cadet Bone Spur colluded with Russia to get the election.

I hope it revives. Here's what could have really jump-started the revival: having Amazon chose it for #HQ2.https://medium.com/@kimbellard/an-plea-to-amazon-make-hq2-matter-c8ba1c55046d …
