With "Avengers: Infinity War," Marvel says it wants to clear the table it has spent the last 10 years arranging and make way for something new https://nyti.ms/2HAW4o4

This is death to creative writing and directing. Every blockbuster is a superhero movie. Gone are the glory days of unique story lines and colorful characters.

Feel like I’ve heard this before... ...Oh yeah! It was from a guy who just got four Avatar movies green lit over the course of three years... Who, also, previously made seven terminator movies.

They’re not “clearing the table” they’re building upon it. They’re going to start doing the cosmic storylines, obviously. Expect Captain Marvel, Nova, Adam Warlock, Planet Hulk, She-Hulk, the Kree-Skrull War. And eventually all of this will lead (hopefully) to the Secret Wars.

Yes, as excited as I am for more Marvel movies (what can I say? It’s a guilty pleasure...), I don’t see how they’re “clearing the table” either.

Yeah, I really don’t get this article, since our newspaper said the exact opposite.

One day we will look at this era with cartoon characters in enormous budget movies and shake our heads. Why did we trade in good solid storytelling with believable characters, for CGI, SFX and cartoon characters in silly costumes and even sillier plot?
