Because they don't have quite enough money? I mean, that's quite the price bump! I think it's time to cancel my membership.

They do at least add benefits/content. As much as I hate to see the price increase, it's still a great deal for me. The 2-day shipping alone makes it worth it. Then I get at least 2 free books per month, stream Amazon Prime Video & Amazon Music. There are other benefits too.

I mostly take advantage of the shipping. But that's such a big jump. It might be time for me to start doing more shopping locally...but I will sure miss the convenience.

It is a big jump. I wonder if Bezos is considering dropping the shipping deal with USPS (hello, Stable Genius!), which would increase Amazon's shipping costs but also be a huge hit to the USPS bottom line, especially since the PO drives to all those locations already anyway.

In Italy it's 36 euros, in Spain 20 and prices haven't changed since they started 5 years ago. Why do they only raise prices in the US where it already has the most expensive Prime service in the world? US Prime customers are paying for Amazon's global expansion.

Or maybe it costs more to provide the service and shipping in the US??? I don't know how many distribution centers (and all associated costs) Amazon has in the US, but I suspect it's a lot based simply on the information I see from my own packages shipped by Amazon.

I know the 3 countries well and actually shipping costs are pretty much the same. In Europe they can even send you items from other EU countries for free. That's why it's hard to understand. Americans buy more online but there are more Prime customers in US than the rest combined

Idk if anybody else has this problem, but lately “two business days” isn’t offered on alleged prime items or it says two day shipping but takes up to five...business days, not weekends. Sooooo why should I pay more for less efficient service?

I’m out! Amazon is no better than Wal-Mart. Time to go back to supporting local biz and realizing that it won’t kill us to wait 5 days for a package if we can’t find it locally.
