This is what the confederate flag represents. Let's not allow it to be disconnected from its true history.

Heart wrenching and so painful to know this is what some white folks would like to see happen again and again. The hatred is real and I doubt most people recognize how they’ve been trained/conditioned to hate.

You are probably correct about the conditioning. It is sad people believe things about other people based on a small group think. Most people during this time, were certainly not supportive of these horrific actions. And most people today don’t support racism

My gram always told how she saw Black people "hanging from a tree" in GA when she was a girl. Through learning about this memorial, I discovered that 4 people, including a woman, were lynched in Hamilton GA in Jan. 1912 when Gram was 14. She lived close by.

When I began reading about this memorial and the unthinkable river of tragedy that it brings into the light I was devastated and once again I was engulfed with the same thought - What the hell is wrong with people?

The lynching hasn't stopped. They now use guns and the mobs wear blue uniforms. The majority of white people either approve the police killings or they say it's none of their business just as the approved and kept quiet during the lynchings.

The scary thing is that there are still people in the South that would condone this behavior.

To think that there's not this mindset with some people in the South is to not be aware of what is going on in this country. There were just burning swastikas in Georgia. Do you think they're tolerant people and safe to be around if you're a minority or not a white Christian?

And? There are plenty of areas “up north” whites aren’t guaranteed tolerance and safety as well, you know. To continue stereotyping the South on racism is tiresome and egged on by tptb.

The story was relevant to the South and you can't tell me there aren't racists there. There's certainly ones in the North but, Alabama is kinda south.

You agree there are racists everywhere, but for some reason, it’s “scary” when they’re in the south? Ok 😆
