Before rushing toward the suspect, or firing his gun, Constable Lam did something else: He paused, walked briskly back to his car and turned off its siren. Watch how the suspect's arrest unfolded:https://nyti.ms/2Hp5HpO

He actually learned that wielding a gun makes it more likely to get shot. It's a fact that is verfied by experience in numerous countries. Except USA, where they verify the opposite. Daily.

That’s what we all expect of our police everywhere. Calm under pressure - assess threat. No ‘shoot first’ policy here. Congratulations Constable Lam.

This is a police officer with impeccable training. Not only by the Toronto police services, but as a human being, and yes, as a Canadian. A hero in the truest sense. American cops take heed. Bravery, is NOT shooting.

This officer is a true hero!? If he could arrest this suspect who claimed to have a gun and just mowed down a ton of people without firing a single shot then why can't police seem to arrest unarmed citizens without killing them!? This officer slowed down and thought! Real hero💕

Now peeps, be fair. In America, you are only in danger of being shot by police if you are black.

This has to take amazing experience combined w/ training. BOTH. I've seen so many incidents here in the U.S. where in a split second someone pulls out a gun or other weapon. So for this cop to do this, he'd have dealt w/ such cases numerous times.

This is honest to god how police act in most other industrialized countries. Think about why it’s different in the US

Because soldiers are coming back from Iraq and Afghanistan and becoming police officers and rising through the ranks. They bring that same military approach and mentality to their new jobs.

I personally appreciate that police officer. Such a brave move. Shooting is not a solution. It's a fraction of seconds judgement. He must be punished by the court.
