"Think of the Royal Navy, Nelson, Trafalgar. And every city has people who died at sea. So when fishermen said, 'We want to come out of the E.U.,' everyone wanted to back the fishermen."https://nyti.ms/2qXzCKu

In many of these communities nostalgia is all they have left, but Brexiteers couldn't give a damn about the fishing industry in the same way that Trump doesn't really give a damn about the coal or steel industries. They are being played for emotive reasons.

You know, nostalgia is all fine and dandy -- if you can experience it. A lot of folks prefer to move as far away from the days of the past as possible. People deserve opportunities to live their life without being held back by unfortunately old standards.

Exactly! Why many of us voted for Brexit.

That makes sense. Everyone who voted for Brexit can come to Manhattan. @realDonaldTrump may be okay with those sorts of migrants -- *insert description of pro-Brexit voters here.*

Sorry... I've been taking notes from the Donald on how things work -- that's why I've been trying to talk to the dude. I sometimes don't like apples either -- a bad one ruins the everything. @Queen_Europe can you explain to me how the E.U. works? The @realDonaldTrump is lacking.

I'll try to explain using US as an example. Imagine 40 years ago US joined a free market union that included all the Countries of the Americas. From Canada down to tip of South America.

Then imagine over the years treaties are signed that set up a Parliament in say Mexico City. A Parliament that makes laws you in the US have to follow. A Court is set up that is higher than your Supreme Court and can over rule it.

Then because your a rich Country you pay a tax to this Parliament which in turn distributes the money to the poorer Countries. Finally they bring in freedom of movement. This allows peoples of all Countries the right to live and work in any of the other Countries.

It's not about Nelson it's about food on the table, affordable housing, crime, cuts to NHS and congestion. Out quality of life is going down but we must accept it because Liberals tell us too.
