He's sure of two things about himself: He is a hockey man, and he is gay. Over the years, that has felt like an untenable intersection.https://nyti.ms/2F9M6E7

So the fact that he is Gay has any relevance in the job he chose to work? As long as he calls correct call's in the games are the only thing that matters. As for the comments he hears he will just have to develop a thick skin. The world will NEVER change, sadly.

Who cares? Does his gayness force him to not perform his job? Then it does not matter. Him being gay has nothing to do with his job or anything else and is not relevant.

Put your big boy britches on. Hockey isn't the only sport where opponents call each other names and it isn't the only sport that calls referees names. I had to endure two decades of female fans calling me eye candy and asking if they could have my children. I endured it.

Personally, I don't understand what his sexual preference has to do with his sport. On the ice he is the referee. And at home he is gay.

Nigel Owens is one of the most respected referees in Rugby and an inspiration. Testosterone filled sports can change and talent remains talent regardless of sexuality.
