For generations of Americans, working for a state or local government provided a comfortable nook in the middle class. In recent years, that hasn't been the case.https://nyti.ms/2qTadlg

Who cares? All the people that stay home when the government shuts down, because their job is nonessential, should be let go.

Public Sector careers were killed years ago when positions were "declassified" and government was freed to hire the least qualified to be paid the least amount of salary.........

Simply working for the government should never guarantee an easy life. These folks receive benefits that most working people could only imagine. If they are talented, they should be paid well, but the vast majority of government “workers” are just not! Just look at your local DOT

Huh? They still get decent pensions and most I know retire far before 65. Better than most of the rest of us at private institutions where pensions are a thing of the past.

It is a bit surprising but that happens even in Africa. A guy has a masters degree and over 20 years experience but is barely able to gross $2,000 a month or $24,000 a year! Never thought it was prevalent in the United States.
