James Shaw Jr. sprinted through the door as fast as he could, slammed into the shooter and knocked him to the ground. "I'm not a hero. I'm just a regular person," he said a few hours after the shooting.https://nyti.ms/2F94mgZ

I agree, this man is a hero! He looks traumatized by his experience, however... I hope he gets the needed resources to start to move beyond this horror...

So far our best bet against crazy gunmen has been a brave UNARMED black man who had the presence of mind to do whatever was needed to keep everyone safe in a deadly situation. We need brave men like him everywhere: in schools, restaurants, clubs, theaters, etc.

James Shaw is a HERO. A hero is humble; a hero does not want the spotlight; a hero does heroic acts without thought. YOU ARE A HERO.

Please be honest with yourself. How many of us are questioning if we could or would have attempted that? Not many, including myself. #JamesShawJrHero is an absolute hero.

You absolutely are a HERO, Mr. James Shaw Jr. Ask anyone in that Waffle House and they would say Hero is probably not a high enough honor for you...Thank you for your calm demeanor, your fast thinking, and your bravery. May God bless you Mr. Shaw, Thank you.

And now he's started a GoFundMe for the victims of the shooting. He's the silver lining in this terrible situation. There is still great evil in this world, but people like James Shaw Jr. show us that there is still a lot of good too.https://www.gofundme.com/5g07bvs

You are a hero! Own it buddy! You went after a gunman without a gun, where your president thinks arming teachers is the solution. Hopefully you taught something to America, but than again I’m a hopeful optimist.
