I don't really see how the history of this event has been made to emphasize white people in particular. The article never provides any source from any historians that treat the event as a primarily white-led event. A good article, but not sure what it's argument is based on.

Mark taught at Fordham, a course on the 60's a bunch of my friends took, so I was familiar with this story. This is, what, 30 years ago, when he taught them. I, myself, transferred. At my new University, I had another professor who was at Colombia then, confirmed this same view.

I realize this is anecdotal evidence, doesn't technically prove anything. They could both, separately have experienced a distorted view. Further, I am no expert, and you have no reason to believe my story.
