It'd be nice if you actually put the songwriter's name on your blurb. Goodness knows that writing (and singing the hell out of) the song is not NEARLY as important as finding the person to sing it or singing it with exactly the same sound the writer had. So a passel of male producers want to create a song. Two enormously talented women @sarah_aarons & @MarenMorris do the heavy lifting. Zedd and the other men add their touches and in the end it's essentially Zedd's song? Explaining that would be more interesting @nytimes.

i’m not taking any credit from them, but those women only wrote vocals on the song. the actual sonic production and creation of everything else (mix, master, etc.) is done by zedd and grey, thus why it’s their song.

"Only wrote vocals"? @sarah_aarons wrote the fucking song. Maren Morris sang it. Rest is atmosphere. Remember when Paul McCartney, Dolly Parton, George Michael, Stevie Wonder, Joni Mitchell, Carole King, 100s of others, wud go in a room by themselves and write a fucking song?

yes sarah wrote this song. it’s a brilliant song. but without the production from Zedd and Grey, it’s just a piano and Maren’s voice, that’s why it’s Zedd/Grey’s song. All those artists you mentioned didn’t know how to produce their own music did they? these guys do.

Many artists can produce. Many producers can play and compose. But once '80s remixer Jellybean Benitez "recorded" an album on which dozens of musicians did all the writing, vocalizing and instrument-playing while he called himself "the artist"-- all bets were off. #MusicHistory

stop talking about that album and realize why you started this argument in the first place. yes some artists can produce, but in this case, they can’t. zedd and grey can. their song.
