For those who aren't reading the article: "The boy, Jonathan Benko, and a group of about 12 to 15 other students from Parkland Middle School in El Paso decided not to participate in the walkout, and instead left the campus to visit a park on the other side of Loop 375....."

This is a spin on the events, they did elect to participate in the organized protest & used it as an excuse to leave school premises. This is how children behave & that is why it is foolish to encourage them to leave their classrooms. The organizers did not supervise correctly.

Now everyone's going to say protesting guns got him killed. No he obviously wasn't being watched or had no road sense. This had nothing to do with the protest

He wasn't even at the school or in the protest. Maybe read the article. He was just killed at the same time in another location.

He wasn't at the school because the school held the protest. He and his friends didn't want to be a part of the protest so they went to another area to go to a park. He was hit by a car and killed. If the school hadn't had a march at all, he would've been alive.

No if he had listened and stayed at school he wouldn't have been killed. He didn't have to participate that's his choice but he should know better to not go off and try and cross a highway.

How isan 11year old boy supposed to have "known better"when practically the whole entire country had posted everywhere about this march and making it apparent that it's okay to go against authority and leave school. These kids shouldn't even have to be pressured to have a choice

Whenever my school did something we had the choice either participate or do work. Some teachers would hold the event and some would do classes but all students were supervised. It's the schools fault not the protest. If they can't provide proper supervision don't get involved.

yes but a school is no place to hold a protest. you go to school for an education. if you want to protest, do it outside of school.
