As Facebook pushes into developing countries, it tends to be initially received as a force for good. But Facebook’s greatest impact may be in amplifying universal tendencies toward tribalism.https://nyti.ms/2qPlx1W

Many users treat Facebook as their primary portal for news and information, unchecked as local media are displaced by Facebook. Governments find themselves with little leverage.https://nyti.ms/2HV5bgt

A reconstruction of Sri Lanka’s 2017 descent into violence found that Facebook’s newsfeed played a central role in nearly every step from rumor to killing. Facebook declined to respond in detail to questions about its role in the violence. https://nyti.ms/2K5Qp6X pic.twitter.com/jPkw3RcOXZ

Legislators worldwide need to take responsibility and censure and control the monster Facebook has become .. Zuckerberg despite what he has said appears to be focused only on making money .....

Also, in Kenya, Facebook played a big role in tribalism, violence, tribal cleansing/killings that took place during presidential elections & this hate, generated on fb, continues. Facebook has done NOTHING! The divide is also seen in the US...Russian election meddling

“Amplifying universal tendencies toward tribalism” That’s Facebook in a nutshell. It’s algorithm is designed for creating echo chambers. I got off Facebook a few months ago & life has been significantly better.

Please face is doing a great job, it's just a platform people are using to and showcase the evil of nepotism, ethnic cleansing, society vices that has been going on for decades hidden from the outside world where such is taking place just like the case of Biafra and Nigeria.
