A vehicle ban in Central Park has been decades in the making. Come June, it will be a reality.https://nyti.ms/2vvAawK

We're New York. We don't have parking lots in our parks.

That’s so sad. One of my fav Central Park memories was a 50 mph cab ride through the park by a manic Russian who kept telling us to visit Cuba bc “it’s like Paris in the 40s!” You know, nazis and all. People and bikes dodging and screaming as we flew by #nostalgia

I have mixed feelings; good news for the park visitors but it was a great timesaver to the East Side if coming in from NJ.

For us who LIVE in the City, it’s about time. I don’t care about the inconvenience of the B&T crowd who crowd Manhattan w/ unnecessary cars.

So now, traffic will have to go miles around instead of through. Should do wonders for the air quality. DeBlasio is a fool.

I don’t know how removing this crosstown shortcut is going to help air quality and traffic congestion citywide. It’s nice for the park, but not nice for the lungs of people living along the new route
