Trump just noticed that OPEC has been trying to raise oil prices? That does of course benefit companies in states that support Trump, like Texas.

The man is a barely-functioning moron - the dollar's primacy is entirely rooted in its use in exchange for oil, which he wants to deflate? I'd ask if he understood what that would do to the dollar, but having to ask the question is enough of an answer.

...Because they are.... OPEC trying to create a false supply squeeze is like corking an over-filled dam before the storm (American mrkt supply) arrives between 2020-2023. Drill, and kill Russia/Saudi stronghold before they breed.

That only works if the crude price is high enough to sustain drilling operations, which for most American oil companies falls between the $40-$50 per barrel price. OPEC creating artificially higher prices BENEFITS THE USA.

Also, you are dead wrong about barrel production cost with both shale and non-shale. Maybe back in 2014/15. Sorry.pic.twitter.com/3Oa6elyj9V

You're sorry you don't understand these companies need profits above and beyond the price of acquisition in order to continue exploration and development? Perhaps if you'd posted the link, I could have quoted the paragraph under the graphic to you.

Here's the quote since you missed the point entirely: Additional expenses, like taxes on profits, mean that the actual break-even price for many projects is higher, and newer and more complex projects generally fall well above the average cash cost of production.

And the point: read the article you're cherry-picking your data from because it explains why you're wrong.

It is a higher oil price that make the shale oil cracking feasible.

Oh no ... does Trump remember the depressed state of the US market when supply was over abundant and prices were low? Maybe a return to the suffering and layoffs and further lack of investment might remind him. 😢😢
