"Southwest 1380 has an engine fire," Captain Shults radioed to air traffic controllers, not a hint of alarm in her voice. "Descending."https://nyti.ms/2JZKvnR

She is absolutely unshakable. I listened to her communicating with air traffic control and she has to be the coolest and most composed person I have ever seen. She didn’t do it alone of course, every good captain needs a good copilot. They are awesome.

I don't know how well Southwest maintains their planes, but they sure hire bad ass pilots.

You are my favorite newspaper, but please reprimand the writers of “Inside Southwest Flight 1380, 20 Minutes of Chaos and Terror“, it was unusually poorly written and overtly religious for no good reason.

Yeah, but the sensationalistic NYT reporter said the plane "plunged 1000's of fleet" when it was in fact a controlled descent by the pilots

The Times says here and in another piece that the engine exploded. Was there really an explosion? Or did it - as the Times says in a different piece - break apart?

Who cares! Did you see the engine? Not sure what you are trying to get at. One person dead and a pilot who literally saved hundreds of lives.

This entire fleet needs inspection, an engine doesn't inadvertantly fall off..
