Entertainment is vastly outstripping religion as the opiate of the masses. From mega sports, to multi billionaire "entertainers", talent shows, vicariously living through fake house wives to sham fix er uppers. Imagine a world where people who actually help others was celebrated.

I think they could have used the 68 mil they used for the Harry Potter sets for something http://better.like  improving seating, donating some of the money to help out of work actors,or giving acting classes to at risk youth.

The new Harry Potter & the Cursed Child play cost ($68 million) is more than twice the Gross Domestic Product (GDP) of the country of Tuvalu, which has a GDP of $32 million. Producers of the Harry Potter play could fund the country of Tuvalu for 2 years if they wanted to.

I can see where that would be the case. Anyone who read the Cursed Child without seeing the play had to be wondering, through much of it, "How on Earth are they going to pull that off in a stage production?" So, the effects, etc. being pricey was expected.
