In the seats behind her, passengers sent goodbye text messages, tightened oxygen masks around their faces and braced for impact. But Capt. Tammie Jo Shults was in control.https://nyti.ms/2EUYO9v

Tammie Jo Shults is an experienced pilot who proved with her nerves of steel that she belongs with the big boys. We throw the word hero around way too much, but in this case it's warranted.

There was a time airlines hired high quality U.S technicians known as A&P mechanics to work on their airplanes, today they subcontract to the lowest bidder. D&C inspections (most complex of all) are done in Mexico by who knows who, airlines don't want you to know. #Southwest

😏NYTimes your sexism is showing. From this photo, I can easily assume the man in the center is the hero pilot while the woman on the side, with her eyes closed, and faced scrunched up is Captain Shults. smh

That's not really fair; we don't know how many photos of this woman are available, especially from the incident. It's not like a NY @nytimes reporter was on the plane.

Military training pays off again-bravo to Capt. Shults for her heroic effort; the episode however, does change my view on window seats-it's the aisle seat for me from now on whenever possible.
