He was not a candidate he is the heir to the brutal dictatorship of the Castro regime. An orchestrated presidential succession that will continue the systematic human right abuses & Cuban law limiting freedom of expression, association, assembly, movement, and the press. 😢🇨🇺

Raul Castro is staying as the head of Cuba's Communist Party, that is where the real power resides, he will continue to rule the island, and like you said, he chose his successor, so unfortunately you are wrong, this is not the end of the Castro era in Cuba, their tyranny goes on

Is it the end if the next president is a Castro appointee? The promises of the revolution were all monstrous lies.

#Obama picked a good time for the US to reopen diplomatic relations with #Cuba. Even with dickhead #Trump as our current President, it's assured that with better diplomatic ties to #America, Cuba can develop their own form of #Democracy that will better serve its people

When a citizen doesn't have any input on who leads their country or makes and enforces the laws, directly or indirectly - it's not a democracy.

How long has Fidel been in power? Was Raul voted into Office when Fidel stepped down? Who picks Raul's successor? How many political parties are in the Cuban government?

32 yrs, although idk how that could mean Cuba isn't democratic (as you seem to be implying). Yes Raúl was voted in when Fidel stepped down. The Cuban National Assembly, voted into office by ~8mil Cubans, picks Raúl's successor. >1 party isn't a necessary feature for democracy.

Raul was "voted" in closed party vote - 8 million Cubans did not directly or indirectly had any say if they wanted him as their leader or not, like his successor. The members of your Cuban assembly -also closed voted by a lesser committee. #Democracy is about multiple POVs, not 1

I don't know how to respond to this other than tell you that you're literally just wrong. Also, there are multiple points of view within the Communist Party.
