The building code does not protect San Francisco from earthquakes nearly as much as you might thinkhttps://nyti.ms/2JPWyUK

Look to Japan for ideas how to build in earthquake prone regions. Look to Fukushima Daiichi if you want to know how not to do it.

I was just having this discussion with some modelers at #ENVISION18 last week in LA in a very tall building. Building Code are partly made up from models and models can be wrong.

I find it odd that the article contains no mention of the 1989 Loma Prieta earthquake that broke the Bay Bridge, the Embarcadero Freeway, led to fires throughout the Marina, and did tremendous regional damage. Pretty significant oversight in the history.

Instead of attacking the President on a daily basis, you should write more on "earthquakes".

Yeah, so in case of disaster there will be nobody to blame, except Nature. May be we need to think about our lives ourselves? #SARBeacon #DollarSavesLives #Indiegogo #Crowdfundingpic.twitter.com/xmo23T1KHh

I'd say no building code, no code whatsoever can protect SF from earthquakes. There will be EQs!
