"I buy my students lined paper, pencils, colored paper, markers, crayons, construction paper, you name it. I'm no different than millions of teachers nationwide," said a teacher in Kentuckyhttps://nyti.ms/2JNiVdH

And you're no different from workers all over the country that buy supplies to make their work more enjoyable or efficient - except we don't get 3 months off or Cadillac benefits.

Teachers are not getting three months off either. School goes through mid-late June, summer school (for special ed teachers) goes through late July or early August, and the school year starts again between mid-Aug & early Sept, with working days for teachers before kids return...

Including days of classroom breakdown and set up that teachers are NOT getting paid for. What other job requires employees to come in and work for free to be ready for when the paying work starts? And at what job are you buying your own supplies out of NECESSITY?

Teachers are the only people who steal supplies from home to take to work.

We need to stop increasing the defense budget, (only takes one nuk to destroy the world), and invest in our schools! For Gods sake where are our priorities?

In Kentucky creationism never changes, they only need one book for that.

I don’t know which is more disgraceful—the abysmal salaries paid to so many of these teachers or the extent to which they reach into their pockets to supply their classrooms. Thank goodness for @DonorsChoose! I hope more people donate & more teachers turn to this great resource.
