I so agree with you. I grew up here and yes we always hugged family but not others. We also only said I love you to parents, children and our spouse. Its out of control these days.

While we don't have to say "I love you" all the time it's a good idea to say it once in awhile to the ones you do love because you never know when all of a sudden you won't have the chance and you wonder if it was "understood"

I don't think the article was written in a way that fully disects the intricacies of Asian culture and how it affects the first generation Americans born into these families. This isn't a "young person" issue.

It's a cross cultural issue for many "model minorities." One that should be explored and not written off.
