Now that Republicans are in charge, with their obsession for deregulation, such outbreaks are becoming more common. Safety standards are eased and corners are cut without oversight just to maximize profit. Sucks.

That has nothing to do w/salmonella; which contaminates egg SHELL bc of contact w/fecal matter~*as it's being laid* or after. Unless shell is defective having it *inside* is extremely rare. Buy my eggs direct@small farms2~but THORO-WASH/Inspect them again b4 eating~Many x's raw.

At first this concerned me, then I came to my senses and remembered that we're supposed to be panicked by raw and undercooked eggs and poultry anyway due to a real risk that they harbor salmonella. Am I missing something? Maybe these foods generally aren't so dangerous?

Thanks for the heads up but I read a lot of egg news, I don't have time to plug every figure I come across into this equation of yours. This is an editorial problem plain and simple.

R u kidding?? What equation?? Its 3rd grade math. Theres 12 eggs in a dozen, # of eggs affected = 200 million, divide 200 million by 12 to determine the # in dozens. 200000000 divided by 12 = 16,666,666.66 dozen eggs effected. If that # is too big for u its over 16 mill.
