        They are being held in unheated prisons far away from home, as if they were prisoners, &not because they are a violent risk:it is simple. They've not been tried in a court of law with a full & long defence, nor have they been convicted-that is basically all the NY Times has said

        You miss the point - where is the trial, the team's of lawyers, the analysis of why the law is like it is - it may be, it may not be, that the law was made to keep Francoists under control. If it was, then the law would be morally defunct and cowardly-you confront and remove them

        They're not trying to defuse anything. They benefit from the confrontation, they are aching to prove Catalan secessionist movement as violent so they can label it as terrorism and justify even more abuses. So they are pushing and pushing searching to ignite any kind of pushback.
