David S. Buckel, a lawyer known for being a champion of gay rights, died after setting himself on fire in Prospect Park in Brooklyn. He left a note urging people to lead less selfish lives as a way to protect the planet, the police said.https://nyti.ms/2HCfHJ9

this makes me angry. What a waste of a good man. Sorry, I know I should probably be sad etc but I'm furious at him. He had so much left to do in the world, truly good people are needed now more than ever. And this accomplished nothing. I hate suicide.

Death by immolation in a public park in New York. Passers-by found the barbecued remains, so may now be experiencing psychiatric harm. A nervous shock is a psychiatric illness or injury inflicted upon a person by intentional or negligent actions or omissions of another.

The suicide note: My name is David Buckel and I just killed myself by fire as a protest suicide... I apologize to you for the mess. My early death by fossil fuel reflects what we are doing to ourselves... I hope it is an honorable death that might serve others.”pic.twitter.com/PdJYMCbcrM

Calm down, you’ll be fine. Unless you set yourself on fire anyway.

This man was obviously very mentally ill. It is very sad that he did not get the help that he needed before he killed himself. We should all be grateful that he didn't take anybody down with him.

David Buckel was a prominent civil rights attorney, but also a nationally renown community composter. He greatly advanced community composting by applying the same thoughtful & meticulous strategic brilliance to it as he did gay rights. Read my tribute.https://ilsr.org/tribute-david-buckel/ …

It saddens me to read this. We need to pay more attention to mental health with less stigmas and help people recognise the early signs of it. This is a very sad case. May God rest his selfless and well meaning soul. 🙁

Irresponsible. You're glorifying his suicide by assenting to its political aims. Don't encourage this.
