Look at your 1099. Whatever you made, if they took out ten% you’re ok. Anything less than that you will have to pay if you are married without kids, UNLESS you check the box that says “Married but withhold at a higher single rate”.

1099? That’s misc income, I wouldn’t think that is related to this discussion.

Yes it's our fault we do see much to dance about in our $7 less withholding.

I’m a lawyer with an MBA who has been doing tax returns for >30 yrs. The IRS Tax Calculator is baffling. The average taxpayer will find it very difficult to use. And dividends make your tax situation “particularly complex”? Taxpayers are going to be very surprised in April 2019.

You don't have to withhold anything for federal or state taxes. The IRS just doesn't want to borrow money on yearly basis and pay interests on it. Withholding taxes from your paycheck gives them interest free revenue.

I thought the tax bill was supposed to make it easier? Where’s my post card to file my taxes? Can’t find one! We have spent 25 -30 hours on tax so far. Not easier!

I actually don't understand this at all. Surely the income tax brackets are uniform enough that businesses can do this for you without asking?

Easy to get withholding wrong. I am married with 2 kids. But due to AMT, I have to choose single no kids to get proper withholding amount.

Our accountant told us that if we do not change our deductions, we will end up owing $8,000+! He also told us this was the worst time to buy a house. Scary

Tax payers should send their tax returns to the Daft, donald trump, for verification, because is seems like even the #IRS is uploading their shit onto the taxpayer for tax expertise, that #IRS, and the framers of tax bill, congress can't Discern!!
