Well, Gov Cuomo is correct about one thing. It is a gateway drug...OUT of opioid and benzodiazepine dependency.

@CynthiaNixon why would legalizing Marijuana your first priority? New York’s needs more important things than legally getting high.🤔 Schools and Infrastructure?

Taxing marijuana would help solve both of these problems.

Democracy is burning and this is her platform? Sure. Everyone get high while democracy dies. What a joke. If I sill lived in NYC I would vote for a broomstick with a paper face over her.

well, voting for a broomstick would not only disqualify your vote but saying so disqualifies you and puts your criticism of a 'dieing democeacy'(it's not dieing it's perverted & backwards in US) in stark contrast. #brainmatters #backwardsUSA

There’s more dimension to this policy than “getting stoned”. The number of incarcerations for non-violent crimes will drop, meaning less taxpayer money funneled into prison systems. Also, the state will gain huge revenue to sales of legal product. It’s a very lucrative move.

I understand that and I appreciate your cogent argument. I really do. But I will never support this. I saw generations of students while I was in high school lose any opportunity they were ever going to have to advance their lives because they got stoned before school. 1/

Understandable that kids shouldn’t do it; especially because it’s terrible for developing minds, but the unfortunate fact is they will do it either way. At least if it’s decriminalized they won’t go to jail. I’d rather they reflect flipping burgers than in a cell.

I appreciate your opinion. Statistics show that states with legalized marijuana have lower levels of opiod ER room visits and OD deaths. Or so I've read.

Think this may be a false equivalency - a "stork brings babies b/c it's on the roof at birth" thing. Don't believe there's a legitimate connection between legalization of marijuana (also addictive) & reduced opioid crises but would appreciate scientific reference if you have it.
