        2nd Amendment was written for a musket. Not confusing at all. #2ndAmendment #ParklandStudentsSpeak #VetsForGunReform #GunControlNow #DavidHogg

It's only cryptic because of the media coverage on the 2nd amendment. The writings of the men who wrote the document, not to mention the state constitutions that were even clearer on the matter state clearly that it is mean to arm private citizens. Not militias or the government.

Should be a privilege to own firearms. Not a right. Beat your wife ? Beat your kid? Have a felony? Have mental issues ? Have anger issues ? Manic depression / bipolar ? Attempted suicide ? Assault / battery conviction ? Guess what - no guns for you.

BREAKING NEWS: New York Times employees find the phrase "shall not be infringed" to be confusing as their communist, Marxist agenda is based entirely on rights being infringed for other people who are not them.

Even by your textually and historically illiterate interpretation, that's still not cryptic...

"That's still not cryptic" Exactly, the purpose of the second amendment is to allow for "a well regulated Militia" Glad we agree.

Twitter is a terrible place to teach history, but please educate yourself by reading federalist paper #46, as well as other founding father writings on the matter, as well as what a militia meant at that time.

So what you are saying is that in order to figure out what the second amendment means we have to study a bunch of outside writings to divine FF thoughts and try to interpret the meaning of militia at the time. So....it is cryptic?

I don't think you have a solid understanding of what "cryptic" means.

Hundreds of years after it was written there are still multiple interpretations of what it means. It certainly isn't clear.

It should be repealed and replaced with something that can only be interpreted in one way.
