Modern Love: "I’m not sure it’s possible to justify my liaisons with married men, but what I learned from having them warrants discussion"https://nyti.ms/2GIFClh

I don't care what her reasons were. I don't care about the married men's reasons. Immoral people easily justify their actions. Integrity is doing what's right when nobody is looking. They lack it. Waiting for the Karma bus...

Adultery has such a massive double standard. when men cheat, they are just pigs. when women cheat, they want more from life without destroying it. when women knowingly sleep with a married man, it’s even considered romantic, and they obtain the title of Mistress.

Not in my world. Nothing romantic about destroying lives and hearts. If one doesn't want to be monogamous, they should exit the marriage. They'd be doing their spouse and kids a favor. Isn't it amazing how losers seem to find each other? Thank you, internet!

Lol fun read but 2 questions : 1) What did you get out of it? 2) you tagged women, while I personally feel this was more a message targeted to men, so why? ☺️

A message targeted to men ? How so? Boys will be boys, I agree that once you decide to cheat, you should keep it to urself ..😂.. I learned that marriage can be boring..

“Boys will be boys” is BS. Anywhoo, it’s targeted to men because it seems to me she’s encouraging those married men to communicate with their wives if they feel something is missing. Buuut..for me, again, she’s naive lol She believes them.

Nivyo nyene.. Lol Same as “ I will leave my wife, don’t worry”, the “we don’t have sex anymore so I’m looking for a side piece to get intimacy” is just a fake reason. She wrote that piece believing those men. Nah, they just wanted a piece of ass of a different variety. Dats all.

That the integrity of monogamous relationships means distressingly little to entirely too many people?

You say “I believe the answer is honesty and dialogue, no matter how frightening.” But you’re fooled if you think asking married men “why” is open dialogue: you’re both just fucking after small talk.

Relationships are tough, and it takes a real functioning adult to show up & participate, I pity "Cheaters" who want the fantasy without the reality, there are no winners here. If you think it is ok to cheat you are deluded.

Maybe they’re not having sex with their husband because they know they fck around and don’t want to confront it. Also sounds like a great tale to gain sympathy from a woman who’s “not trying” to sleep with married men.

Adultery and breaking up homes doesn't deserve legitimization. For the @nytimes to give credence to this moral bankruptcy is pathetic. But then again, it's the @nytimes

Modern? It's as old as the hills. Love? Seldom. Lust sometimes, but mostly longing to regain some diminished ego. The author fails to mentions how rapidly it becomes all about 'them'-Their daily lives, their availability, their needs. A one sided affair.
