Is the doctor in? In this new medical age of urgent care centers and retail clinics, that’s not a simple question.https://nyti.ms/2JulIbr

That's a good thing. One of the biggest sources of cost in health care is the number of easy tasks that doctors are only around to do which nurses are more than capable of doing. This lowers medical costs without affecting patient care outcomes.

Exactly! Let doctors manage chronic issues, do research, and perform the really complex procedures. Most routine care can and should be done by RN's, ARNP's, and PA's.

With a 3 million strong nursing body in this country every American citizen should have access to a top rated high quality care. Its up to the nurses to shape the policy and be the driving force. #HealAmerica

Using PAs/NPs for primary & urgent care is great. However one thing the article missed is these for-profit ventures skim the best insured from the top. One Medical isn't taking Medicaid so the primary care providers that do & ERs who see everyone are left undercompensated.

I work with a direct primary care physician that eschews insurance companies and offers a membership based, old school alternative. Couldn't be happier. I think this practice will also increase!
