I tell this to kids all the time - if you don’t know what you want to do go to community college for 2 years then transfer to state school. Save lots of money for same education

Connections made in the first two years can be as valuable as the education itself, especially if the student is not an introvert or highly articulate. Learning to network is fundamental in this society; which does not operate like a meritocracy.

Extrovert* those not yet comfortable in their own skin can do themselves a disservice by not engaging with their peers in a university setting if they have the chance. Building relationships is the most sure-fire way to secure future career advancement opportunities. #joinaclub

But we have a so-called president that does not even know what a a community college is. We’ve got our priorities screwed up.

Canada is also a popular choice. Top quality education for a fraction (think 1/10) of the cost of an equivalent 4 year undergraduate degree at an accredited university (Canada doesn't have any sketchy universities). Grad school and beyond are also affordable.

Donald Trump clearly doesn't understand the vital role community colleges play in making higher education accessible.

College is a good thing for many students. Others not so good. I went to high school in Okla. In my time they had the best system. Final 2 yrs HS if grades were good you could attend Vo-Tech. A program to put graduates into a job right away. Medical Tech. Air plane Maint. so on.

10 years ago, I met a hair stylist from Oklahoma who was was earning her accounting degree while managing a salon. She was able to graduate debt free from college because of this. So many districts have cut Vo-Tech from their budgets in the meantime.

Isn't that the way, good gets cut but bad carries on. It is hard to hear Vo-Tech keeps get'g cut. It was an incentive to stay in school. Coming outta HS able to support self & family. Too sad One would think state funding
